Greening Education

This section will provide you with resources for teaching recycling and implementing recycling programs in your school. A good place to start is with  your local Recycling Professional.  Knowledgeable recyclers can be found at the town, county or state level.  They would be pleased to help you to set up a viable program.

Next you may want to visit the Go Green Initiative (GGI) website (www.gogreeninitiative.org).  Joining the GGI is free, but the benefits are nationwide!  The GGI website is home to a very effective tool for keeping track of your recycling efforts as well as calculating the environmental benefits..

In fact, New York was named the 2006 Go Green State of the Year, and both NYSAR3 and the NYS PTA were honored for their dedication and achievements in recycling. Representatives from each organization received a crystal award for helping schools to “Go Green”.  The awards dinner took place at the  Go Green Annual Summit in Pleasanton, CA on April 1st, 2006. Highlights of the summit are available here and on the GGI website.
